Spanning from December 24th to January 11th, satellite images were taken showing signs of North Korea restarting their main nuclear bomb fuel reactor after being shut down for numerous months. The 5-megawatt Nyongbyon reactor is being closely monitored during this time of tension between North Korea and many other countries. The reactor is believed to have multiple nuclear bombs.
Meanwhile, it was discovered that Kim Jong II demanded $10 million and a half ton of food to hold a summit with the South, back in 2009. Pyongyang apparently requested for 800,000 combined tons of rice, corn and fertilizer. Former South Korean President Lee Myung-bak stated, “We shouldn’t be haggling for a summit.” North Korea and South Korea have been separated by the Korean Demilitarized Zone for a while now. Future summits are a possibility for these two countries in the future, as they haven’t recently been rejected by the current leaders.
